A bit about Marlies:

In 2002 I moved from the Netherlands to the United States. I experienced how challenging it is to get used to a different culture.

After having been a Registered Nurse for 20+ years, both in the Netherlands and the United States, I decided in 2011 to make a career change and I became a therapist.  

Education:

  • MA in Counseling Psychology at the Wright Institute In Berkeley

  • BSN in Nursing in Groningen, Netherlands

    Experience & Training:

  • Trained in Child Centered Play Therapy
  • Trained in Filial Therapy
  • Trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy
  • Many years of experience as a school-based therapist at a public elementary school
  • Other languages: Dutch, German
